Nissan Torii rolls on spheres powered by lithium-ion batteries
Visualizing the future of a family car, Italian designer Jorge Andres Pinilla Fonseca has come up with a car concept called the “Nissan Torii” that features wire driven technology to replace traditional mechanical control systems with electronic control systems, allowing extra space and better controls to the rider. Inspired by the Japanese metaphor of the “temple gate” that purifies human souls, the Torii moves on four spheres, equipped with lithium-ion batteries and GPS, to ensure a safe and sustainable ride. Developed for the year 2030, the futuristic vehicle also includes air filters behind the screen lamps to purify the air.
Snake Road motorcycle concept to bite the road in style
Inspired by Daniel Simon, a German concept designer and automotive futurist best known for his visionary book Cosmic Motors, and the imperial speeder bike of Star Wars Films, Belgian designer Delussu Bruno has developed a motorcycle concept, which draws its name, the Snake Road, from its form that resembles a cobra. Featuring a closed form for improved aerodynamics, the futuristic motorbike is finished in fiberglass to make it sturdy but at the same time lightweight. The traditional speedometer and internal combustion engine gives it a retro look. Instead of upfront body posture, the rider needs to lie on the bodywork like a racing bike. Though there is no word on the steering system, still the Snake Road seems to offer a powerful ride for avid bikers.
Neongen phone makes communication easy with user-friendly interface
French designer Jerome Le Creusot has just shared his latest cellphone concept called the “Neongen” with us that seems to make communication easier with its user-friendly interface. User can simply rotate the two halves and then turn over the mobile phone to access the touchscreen interface to navigate the phone menu. Made using PMMA and polypropylene, the trendy cellphone replaces screws with clips for easy assembly, while LED lighting gives it a brighter look. The compact cellphone is easy to carry and just fits in your palm for effortless use and movement.

TAG-Heuer watch symbolizing the great traditions of brand
Aimed at designing a watch worthy of the brand’s traditions and communicating its innovative tendencies at the same time, TAG-Heuer watch is a timekeeping pioneered by Peter Vardai. Peter takes inspiration from the brand’s models connected to auto racing and chose the TAG-Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Chronograph model as starting point to design a watch representing the great traditions of the brand. All over the design one can find references to Formula 1 and Mercedes-Benz. The sport car effect is emphasized by the arms with vivid red inlet, and as the buttons are pressed on both sides of the Mercedes logo releases the strap.
The arms are placed on great cogwheels, which make them rotate not around the center but connected to the rim. By this and the non-contiguous strap the light air of the inner surfaces is achieved. Out of the three middle arms the left one is the tenth, the right one is the hundredth seconds while the bottom one displays the charge of the watch. The button is placed in the first TAG-Heuer logo and the watch is supplied with both a rubber and a metal strap. Great design indeed!
BMW’s Vision EfficientDynamics to enter production

BMW has finally announced that its Vision EfficientDynamics concept vehicle will enter production. Initially showcased at the IAA last year, the four seater sportscar is being touted to combine the performance of a BMW M Car with the fuel economy and emissions bettering a small car.
Tempus is a hi-tech wristwatch for well-heeled geeks
Developed for the Swarovski competition, the “Tempus” by Finnish designer Pekka Salokannel is a wristwatch concept that adds style and technology to your conventional timepieces. Based on e-ink technology, the trendy wristwatch features a bendable display to allow flexibility to the user. Integrating a USB port, the wristwatch connects to your computer to let you download different applications to change its character. Apart from its hi-tech functions, the Tempus also touts a gemstone finish to maintain a lavish yet elegant spirit for the trendy.
Microsoft develops an adaptive keyboard with touchscreen display
Professionals often feel cramped while working on a standard computer keyboard, as they have to deal with set keys that allow little or no liberty to adapt to new assignments. Addressing the issue, researchers at Microsoft have developed a prototype keyboard that adjusts according to the context of the task. Integrating a number of keys with display capability, together with a long touchscreen display on top of regular keys, the adaptive keyboard gives more control by changing some keys, when dealing with specific applications. Working like a file browser, the touchscreen display presents ambient information like alerts, so the user could focus on more than one task simultaneously to enhance work efficiency.
Manifold wall clock displays time with continuous 3D transformations
Developed by Studio Ve, the “Manifold” is a wall-mounted clock that as depicted by its name creates a manifold, which produces a 3D movement by connecting the two hands (hour and minute) with each other. With each passing minute, the manifold changes its position to show different parts. Made in steel and Tyvek, a high-density polyethylene fiber, the Manifold looks more like a kinetic sculpture than a timepiece. Measuring 27 x 11 x 10cm (WLH) in dimensions, the wall-mounted clock displays the hour with the traditional location of hands, while presenting a new reading of time.
